Ball Crew Stadium Seating Policy
Off Duty Ball Crew with a valid tournament photo credential may sit in any non-reserved seat in Stadiums 2-9. There is no ground pass seating in Stadium 1.
Guest Tickets
Each ball crew will be provided two complimentary grounds passes for all sessions. The passes are good for admission to the grounds and any non-reserved seat in Stadium 2-9. There is no non-reserved
seating in Stadium 1. When a ball kid is assigned to Stadium 1, one Loge ticket will be provided for their family. Tickets are to be picked up at the Administration Front Desk. Guest passes must enter the grounds through the North, East or South ticket gates ONLY and not before 10:00am or the grounds are open to the public. Lost tickets will not be replaced.
Cell Phone
Use of personal cell phones should be limited to your breaktime. All cell phones and smart watches will be collected before you go on court. They will be turned off, stored in a plastic bag and held by the coordinator until your break.
Meals
A meal allowance will be electronically added to the Ball Crew’s photo credential on days that a 6-hour shift is scheduled. This meal allowance is only valid on the days the Ball Crew is assigned and any unused portion does not carry over from day to day. Meal allowance is valid at any concession stand in the Village, Stadium 1 and Stadium 2.
Media
Ball Crew are not to give interviews to any media i.e. TV, radio, newspaper or online publication unless authorized by the Tournament.
Orientation/Training
Attendance at Ball Crew Uniform Distribution/Orientation and scheduled Training Sessions is mandatory.
Players and VIPs
On your days off and when not in uniform, you are welcome to stand in line with the public at scheduled tournament autograph sessions or where Player/VIP’s may be signing autographs and/or interacting with the Fans.
Program
All Ball Crew will receive one complimentary program. Please pick up your program at the Ball Crew Tent.
Rain/Volunteers
If it is raining, DO NOT CALL THE BALL CREW TENT. Please report to the tournament site for your scheduled shift. When the weather clears we need “all hands on deck” to assist with getting the site ready to play.
Restroom Breaks
Do not leave your assigned position while on your shift without your Coordinator’s knowledge.
Parking/Ball Crew
Each Ball Crew member will receive one 10-minute drop off parking pass which is good for the entire event. Drop off and pick up for Ball Crew is located on the SW corner of Lot S which must be entered
off of Warner Trail, Gate 9. You must have your parking pass to gain entrance to the lot. Ball Crew shuttles will provide transportation from the parking lot to the Ball Crew tent. Allow extra time before the start of your shift to get to the Ball Crew Tent. These parking passes are non-transferable. Lost parking passes will not be replaced.
Scheduling
All Ball Crew schedules are listed on ShiftBoard at www.shiftboard.com. In an emergency where the Ball Crew member cannot fill a confirmed shift, it is the responsibility of the Ball Crew member to email ballkids@desertchampions.com of this change immediately.
Uniforms/Dress Code
Fila is the official clothing sponsor and is very generous by providing the Ball Crew Uniforms on a complimentary basis. All Ball Crew members are required to wear the Fila Uniform. Shirts are to be tucked in. No alterations/additions to your uniform are allowed. Please DO NOT wear your BNP Paribas Open uniform to view matches on your day off.
Ball Crew Tent
The Ball Crew Tent is located at the West gate. Lockers are available. It is strongly recommended that each Ball Crew member brings their own lock to protect their belongings. If sharing a locker, make sure that each Ball Crew member has access to it. Locks must be taken off at the end of your shift.
