As a mandatory stop on the ATP and Hologic WTA Tour, the BNP paribas Open features the best players in the world. The 2023 player field was highlighted by Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz, and many more stars.
The winningest champions in BNP Paribas Open history are two of the most recognizable names in the history of the sport: Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. The Swiss and Serb are tied for the tournament record with five titles a piece, with Federer raising the trophy in ’04, ’05, ’06, ‘12 and ’17, while Djokovic earned the title in ’08, ’11, ’14, ’15 and ’16.
The 32 seeded players (highest ranked players per the WTA Tour or ATP Tour ranking system) are placed on the draw: No. 1 is put on the first line, No. 2 on the last line and then the others in alternating order on pre-determined lines. Once the seeds are in place, the other players are drawn at random and placed on the empty lines starting at the top of the page and going down the draw until it is filled. The public is welcome on a free admission basis to watch the WTA Tour Singles Main Draw and the ATP Tour Singles Main Draw at the Stadium Plaza.
Gates to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden open at 10:00am every day. Match play for the day session begins at 11:00am.
Night session ticketholders can gain entry to the facility beginning at 4:30pm and play for night matches typically begins at 6:00pm barring delays. The facility closes one (1) hour after the end of the last match.

The next day’s schedule is determined by the tournament referee, WTA Tour and ATP Tour supervisors, broadcasters and the tournament director each late afternoon/evening. At approximately 7:00pm each evening, the schedule and match times are posted on the BNP Paribas Open website and social media channels.
