What is the BNP Paribas Open?

The BNP Paribas Open is the largest combined ATP Tour Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tennis event in the world. It is hosted annually at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden near Palm Springs in the city of Indian Wells, California.

Where is the event?

The BNP Paribas Open is located at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden: 78-200 Miles Avenue, Indian Wells, CA 92210. See our Transportation page for driving directions.

Can I watch the tournament on television?

Yes, there are both national and international broadcast schedules of the event. Consult your local listings for air times for Tennis Channel, ESPN and ESPN2 schedules.

How does the draw work and when is it held?

The 32 seeded players (highest ranked players per the WTA Tour or ATP Tour ranking system) are placed on the draw: No. 1 is put on the first line, No. 2 on the last line and then the others in alternating order on pre-determined lines. Once the seeds are in place, the other players are drawn at random and placed on the empty lines starting at the top of the page and going down the draw until it is filled. The public is welcome on a free admission basis to watch the WTA Tour Singles Main Draw and the ATP Tour Singles Main Draw at the Stadium Plaza. Dates and times will be announced closer to the event.

When are the match times?

Details for individual match times during the event will be released once tournament rescheduling plans for later in the year are finalized.

When is the schedule determined and how can I find it?

The next day’s schedule is determined by the tournament referee, WTA Tour and ATP Tour supervisors, broadcasters and the tournament director each late afternoon/evening. At approximately 7:00pm each evening, the schedule and match times are posted on the BNP Paribas Open website and social media channels.

When will the 2021 BNP Paribas Open take place?

The tournament is proactively working with the ATP and WTA Tours as well as title sponsor BNP Paribas to confirm dates later in the year to hold the 2021 BNP Paribas Open. Details will be released in the near future as plans are finalized.

What is the rain/wind policy?

In the event of rain that results in the cancellation of a session, we will attempt to accommodate the ticket holder with a Grounds Pass ticket for a subsequent session, based on availability.
