5 Things to Watch on Wednesday

by BNP Paribas Open
10/05/2021

1

WTA Tour First Round: Join us for the first day of WTA Tour main draw play, as unheralded newcomers and surging stars begin their quest to become the 2021 BNP Paribas Open champion and raise the coveted Baccarat trophy at the first-ever fall edition of Tennis Paradise!

2

Bank of the West Radio: Back by popular demand! Courtesy of Bank of the West, fans on-site can complement their tennis viewing experience with a personal earpiece radio. Available at the Bank of the West booth, these custom radios bring the audio commentary from Tennis Channel to patrons at the venue. Get expert analysis from the TV commentators to supplement what you’re seeing on-court, and stay up-to-date with all the happenings around the Indian Wells Tennis Garden!

3

ATP Tour Qualifying: The second and final day of ATP Tour qualifying play will take place on Stadiums 2 – 9, as the aspiring men’s tennis stars who won on Tuesday will attempt to secure their place in the 2021 BNP Paribas Open main draw.

4

Top WTA Qualifying Match: In WTA Tour first round action, highly-touted American and 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens will take on British veteran Heather Watson. Stephens has proved many times that she has all the game necessary to be the last woman standing in the field, but will need to put all of her skills together to advance over a very game Watson. The 29-year-old is the former British No. 1 and has nine titles to her name throughout her career.

5

Top ATP Qualifying Match: Dutchman Botic Van De Zandschulp will take on American Thai-Son Kwiatkowski on Stadium 4 in the late afternoon on Wednesday from Tennis Paradise. With a spot in the men’s main draw on the line, Zandschulp will be looking to piggyback off of an incredible US Open performance where he not only reached the quarterfinals, but also was the only man to take a set off of eventual champion Daniil Medvedev. It’s a tall task for Kwiatkowski, the No. 239 ranked player who has a major upset on his mind.
