Southern California native Alex Michelsen made his ATP Masters 1000 debut at Indian Wells in 2024. The 20-year-old is the youngest American ranked in the ATP Top 50, finishing 2024 with a career-high ranking at No. 41. Michelsen began the 2024 season with a third round appearance in his Australian Open debut, a performance which vaulted him into the Top 75 for the first time. Since turning pro in 2023, Michelsen has also reached three ATP Tour finals, picked up first round wins in five of his ATP Masters 1000 debuts, and reached the second round of the US Open in both of his appearances.
