Alex Michelsen began the 2025 season with a statement performance at the Australian Open, beating No. 11 Stefanos Tsitsipas and No. 19 Karen Khachanov on his way to a career-best fourth round finish at a Grand Slam. As a result, he reached a career-high 36 ranking, standing as the youngest American ranked in the Top 50. Since turning pro in 2023, Michelsen has reached three ATP Tour finals, picked up first round wins in five of his ATP Masters 1000 debuts, and advanced to the second round of the US Open in both of his appearances. The Southern California native made his ATP Masters 1000 debut at Indian Wells in 2024.
