Her breakout season included an improbable semifinal run at the Miami Open, where she defeated three former Grand Slam champions – Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek – a maiden WTA final in Eastbourne, a WTA 125 title in Guadalajara, and a historic win over Clara Tauson at the US Open that made her the first Filipino to win a Grand Slam main-draw match in the Open Era.
