Three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber returns to the BNP Paribas Open in the midst of her 2024 comeback following a year and a half hiatus from the WTA Tour. The former World No. 1 has won at the Australian Open (2016), US Open (2016), and Wimbledon (2018), as well as winning a Silver Medal at the 2016 Olympics. She finished the 2016 season with the year-end World No. 1 ranking and became the oldest women's player to achieve that feat. Her best career finish in Indian Wells came with her runner-up performance in 2019 falling to Bianca Andreescu in a thrilling three-set championship match.
