A left-handed hitter from the Netherlands, Rus enjoyed a breakout 2023 campaign which saw her win her maiden singles title at the WTA 250 tournament in Hamburg, Germany. A month later, Rus broke into the Top 50 of the singles rankings for the first time in August, reaching No. 41. Her best Grand Slam finish came when she reached the first round at Roland-Garros in 2012.
