Aslan Karatsev had a breakout performance at the 2021 Australian Open, where he became the first man in the Open Era to reach a semifinal in his Grand Slam debut. In mixed doubles that year with Elena Vesnina, he also reached the Roland-Garros final and earned a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics. Karatsev has gone as far as the fourth round in singles at Indian Wells, and reached the Men's Doubles Final in 2021 partnering with Andrey Rublev.
