Brandon Nakashima moved to a career-high ranking of No. 29 in May last year after reaching the quarter-finals in Delray Beach, the semi-finals in Acapulco and the round of 16 in Indian Wells and Miami. Nakashima’s 32 match wins were the most since his 35 in his breakthrough 2022 season, when he won his hometown tournament in San Diego and ended the season by winning the Next Gen ATP Finals. He reached the Roland Garros fourth round in 2024 and the same stage at Wimbledon in 2022. He played college tennis at the University of Virginia, where in his only season he was the ACC Freshman of the Year and All-ACC First Team before turning pro.
