The reigning BNP Paribas Open women’s singles champion, Elena Rybakina returns to Indian Wells a year after a title run which featured her defeating the top two seeds Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal and final matches. Rybakina won the title at 2022 Wimbledon and is coming off a 2023 campaign which saw her pick up another 1000-level singles title in Rome as well as finalist finishes at the Australian Open and Miami Open.
