Elise Mertens is one of six women to have hoisted the Indian Wells doubles trophy three or more times, winning her first title with Aryna Sabalenka in 2019 and with Hsieh Su-wei in 2021 and 2024. She reclaimed the No. 1 doubles ranking after she and Zhang Shuai won the 2026 Australian Open, her third title in Melbourne and the sixth Grand Slam of her career. Also an accomplished singles player, she posted her best result at the BNP Paribas Open in that discipline in 2024, reaching the fourth round.
