Buenos Aires native Francisco Cerundolo played college tennis at the University of South Carolina. At the 2022 Miami Open, when he was ranked just No. 103, Cerundolo reached his first ATP Masters semifinal, launching him into a breakout 2023 season where he also made a fourth round appearance at Roland-Garros. 2023 also saw Cerundolo climb to a career-best ranking of No. 19.
