Just a year after making his Masters debut at the 2024 BNP Paribas Open, Jakub Mensik won his maiden ATP title at the 1000-level Miami Open in dramatic fashion. Pre tournament he went looking for the Supervisor (who was at lunch) to withdraw from the event due to injury. Mensik changed his mind, decided to play and ultimately defeated his idol Novak Djokovic in the final. The 20-year-old began 2026 by winning the Auckland title. The young Czech phenom has reached the third round of every Grand Slam, and broke into the ATP Top 20 for the first time in May 2025. He rose to a career-high No. 16 after reaching this year’s Australian Open fourth round.
