Karen Khachanov won the 2018 BNP Paribas Masters title in Paris, where he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, and the singles silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. The former World No. 8 surpassed 300 match wins last season when he broke back into the Top 10 for the first time since June 2023. He reached the ATP Masters 1000 final in Toronto and the quarterfinals at Wimbledon.
