Luca Nardi produced one of the greatest upsets of the 2024 season at Indian Wells, defeating No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the third round. Nardi, who was ranked No. 123 at the time, became the lowest ranked player to ever defeat Djokovic at a Masters or Major event. This victory vaulted the 21-year-old into the Top 100 for the first time in his career. In 2025, again as a lucky loser, he reached the Cincinnati fourth round with wins over No. 30 Denis Shapovalov and No. 17 Jakub Mensik, and he climbed to a career-high No. 67 in March after making his first ATP quarterfinal in Dubai (also as a lucky loser).
