Lulu Sun reached her second Tour-level singles final in Guangzhou in 2025, made her main-draw debut at Roland Garros, earned her first main-draw win at the US Open, and won her first WTA 125 title in Jingshan. She owns two Tour-level singles finals: Guangzhou (2025) and Monterrey (2024). In her breakthrough 2024 season she climbed from No. 214 to a career high No. 39 WTA ranking. The Kiwi made a quarterfinal run in her Wimbledon debut, upsetting No. 8 Qinwen Zheng in her first match. She was the first New Zealander in the Open Era to reach the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. Sun played collegiate tennis at the University of Texas.
