The 2021 ATP Comeback Player of the Year, Mackeznie McDonald is a California Kid at heart. A Northern California native, McDonald headed down to the southern part of the state for college, where played for UCLA from 2014-16, winning the 2016 NCAA singles and doubles titles. After undergoing hamstring surgery in 2019, he managed to defeat former champions Nick Kyrgios and Kei Nishikori en route to his first ATP Tour final at 2021 Washington. In 2023, he advanced to his first ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal in Toronto and upset defending champion Rafael Nadal in the second round at the 2023 Australian Open.
