Marcos Giron enjoyed a strong early start to 2026, reaching back-to-back semifinals in Hong Kong and Auckland. He had eventual quarterfinalist Learner Tien on the ropes in the first round of the Australian Open but eventually fell in five sets. The 32-year-old Southern California native is a former NCAA singles champion, winning a singles title with the UCLA Bruins in 2014. Giron reached a career-high ranking of World No. 37 in August 2024 after securing his maiden ATP title at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport. Giron’s fourth-round showing in Indian Wells last year was his best result in six appearances in the desert.
