Player Overview

Portugal’s Nuno Borges topped a little-discussed statistical category in 2025: He won 72 per cent of all points when he came to net, the best mark on Tour. Modestly, Borges didn’t claim to be the best volleyer in the game, saying “I guess I just chose really wisely when to come in’. Borges achieved a career-best Grand Slam performance at the 2024 Australian Open and US Open, reaching the fourth round at both tournaments. He won his first ATP title at the 2024 Swedish Open in Bastad, defeating Rafael Nadal in the final. He has won six ATP Challenger titles, including back-to-back victories at the Phoenix Challenger in 2023-24. Borges was also a five-time All-American and 2019 NCAA singles finalist while playing college tennis at Mississippi State. Borges will be making his third appearance in Indian Wells, hoping to reach the third round for the first time.
