Reaching the fourth round on home soil at Wimbledon will go down as the signature highlight of Sonay Kartal’s 2025 season, but a fourth-round showing at Indian Wells was nice, too. She upset former Roland Garros champion Jelena Ostapenko in the first round at Wimbledon and added another quality win at Indian Wells over former Top 10 player Beatriz Haddad Maia. Later in the year, she reached her first WTA 1000 quarterfinal, defeating Mirra Andreeva in the fourth round. It all equaled a Top 50 debut for “Karts.”
