In 2022, Taylor Fritz defeated Rafael Nadal in the Indian Wells final to become the first American men’s champion at the tournament since Andre Agassi in 2001. He reached a career-high ranking of World No. 5 in February 2023 to become the first American in the Top 5 since Andy Roddick in Sept. 2009. The Southern California native has advanced to two Grand Slam quarterfinals in his career, most recently at the 2024 Australian Open and at 2022 Wimbledon.
