Taylor Fritz produced one of the most courageous BNP Paribas Open final victories in 2022 when he defeated Rafael Nadal after coaches Mike Russell and Paul Annacone advised him against taking the court due to a serious ankle injury. The Southern California native became the first American men’s singles champion at Indian Wells since Andre Agassi in 2001. He also reached the Indian Wells semifinals in 2021 and the quarterfinals in 2023.
