Terence Atmane announced himself to tennis fans last summer at the Cincinnati Open, where he advanced through qualifying to defeat Joao Fonseca, Taylor Fritz and Holger Rune en route to the semifinals. He pushed Jannik Sinner to a tie-break in the first set of their semi, serving three consecutive aces at one point. The left hander later took a set from Sinner in Beijing. Atmane is a big Pokémon card collector who last year donated many cards from his collection to a young boy who was swindled out of his own. He picked up tennis at seven after playing the PlayStation game Virtua Tennis and Wii Sports. The 24-year-old has a career-high ranking of No. 61.
