Yulia Putintseva was in the midst of a career-best run at the BNP Paribas Open in 2024 when Iga Swiatek stopped her in the fourth round. Still, that performance proved to be a springboard for one of the strongest seasons of her career. She reached back-to-back quarterfinals in Miami and Madrid, won her third career title in Birmingham and advanced to the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time. After debuting in the Top 20 to open 2025, she slid down the rankings, but began 2026 on an upswing by reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open for the first time.
