Player Overview

In October 2022, Zhizhen Zhang became the first Chinese player in ATP rankings history to break into the Top 100. He made more history in 2023 when he became the first Chinese player to reach a Masters 1000 quarterfinal at 2023 Madrid, defeating No. 13 Cameron Norrie and No. 10 Taylor Fritz in the process. At Slams, Zhang has made history as well – in qualifying for 2021 Wimbledon and the 2022 US Open, he became the first Chinese man to compete in the main draw of those events in the Open Era. Zhang also reached the 2024 Australia Open men’s doubles semifinal, losing to eventual champions Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden.
