As Rafael Nadal officially calls it a career, we look back on some of the best photos that capture the tremendous impact and legacy he leaves behind in Indian Wells.
Rafael Nadal made his debut at Indian Wells in 2004.
He won three titles in 15 career Tennis Paradise appearances (2007, 2009, 2013)
Nadal was a fan-favorite competitor in Indian Wells and frequently spoke about it being one of his favorite stops on Tour.
Nadal met his longtime rival Roger Federer at Indian Wells three times, including this picture from the Round of 16 in 2017.
Nadal also owns a pair of doubles titles in the desert (2010 and 2012), both won partnering with countrymen Marc Lopez.
Nadal's final appearance in competition at the BNP Paribas Open came in 2022, where he reached the final before falling to American Taylor Fritz.
He defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal in 2022, the second of three all-time career meetings between the Spanish stars.
Nadal travelled to Indian Wells with plans to compete in 2024, but was ultimately forced to pull out of the draw on the eve of his first round match due to injury.
