Iga Swiatek

Press Conference

I. SWIATEK/C. Garcia

6-2, 6-0

THE MODERATOR: Iga, good performance today. Your first match back at Indian Wells. Tell us your thoughts about the match and how you felt you played.

IGA SWIATEK: Well, for sure I'm happy that I was solid until the end, and I'm just happy that I adjusted to the conditions well. First matches are not easy, and didn't know what to expect from Caro, but I'm happy that I could dominate from the beginning.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Obviously first question is: What are you going to buy in grocery shopping? Maybe, you know, to recover physically or something, maybe you're going to buy some physical stuff.

IGA SWIATEK: I don't know. I'm reading this book about cooking, so I tried some new things on this trip since we have a house and we have, like, a huge kitchen and it's very comfortable.

Yeah, tomorrow I'm going to try to do a baked oatmeal with apple. That's going to be the first I'm going to do this, so hopefully it's going to be fine.

Also I found this recipe for pasta with, like, lemon sauce and tuna. I want to buy tuna, but I've never bought tuna, so that's why I'm kind of thinking where should I go? But like a raw tuna. It has to be good.

Q. Wonder if you looked ahead in the draw yet, if you know your next match.

IGA SWIATEK: Yastremska?

Q. You played not too long ago. Do you expect anything different here? Are you going to prepare differently having just played her on hard court?

IGA SWIATEK: Well, I don't expect anything. Honestly, I feel like players playing against me, they can play amazing or they can play a bit worse. So you never know what you're going to get from the other side. They can play kind of without expectations playing me.

So I try not to overthink that. My mentality and my mindset is always kind of the same before the match, and I'll prepare tactically, for sure, and Wim will analyze her game here I guess, because that's the most important thing, what happened recently, and that's it.

Q. Your scoreline is typically 6-0, 6-2, very straightforward scorelines, but when you lose you're going to have different kinds of scores, of course. Do you think there's any reason why you can win with that kind of one-side game?

IGA SWIATEK: Well, I mean, there are many reasons. I don't know. But I don't know. It's just, you know, that I'm solid no matter what the score is, and I don't take, you know, next games for granted. If I'm leading even 4-0, I know that I should keep playing the same way and keep the same attitude to just win the match.

But for sure, you know, the matches that I lose are usually much tighter, which means that it's harder to win against me, I guess. But it doesn't matter. I'm going to have matches, you know, that are huge battles and easy matches, but you can never expect and you can never just, I don't know, try to predict. Doesn't make sense.

Q. Are you working on any good Lego sets here or more focused on the cooking this week?

IGA SWIATEK: Yeah, I have one great Lego set. What is it? I'll post a picture probably one day, because I don't even remember. Like, it has some buildings, some trees. I don't know. I don't know the name. I'll show you.
