One of the most popular players among fans and his peers, Grigor Dimitrov’s most dramatic moment last season came in the fourth round of Wimbledon, where he led Jannik Sinner two sets to love before an untimely pectoral muscle tear forced his unexpected retirement. The Bulgarian was sidelined for more than four months, returning to play just one match later in the year in Paris. Known for his stylish all-court game and signature one-handed backhand, Dimitrov is the top-ranked Bulgarian tennis player in his country's history, and its first and only ATP Finals Champion. In 2017, he went 5-0 at the year-end finals to claim the biggest title of his career. Dimitrov has reached three Grand Slam semifinals, and won the ATP Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati in 2017. Dimitrov needs 23 match wins this season to reach the 500-match-wins milestone. He is 16-12 in Indian Wells after reaching the fourth round the past two seasons. His best result in the desert was a semi-final showing in 2021. He is 156-105 at ATP Masters 1000 level.
