Southern California native Learner Tien remembers coming to the BNP Paribas Open as a kid not for the tennis but for the frozen lemonades. He made his debut in Tennis Paradise last year as World No. 68 after a strong start to the year that included a fourth-round showing at the Australian Open and a quarter-final run in Acapulco. This year he will be seeded after breaking into the Top 25 by reaching his maiden Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open, where he beat Daniil Medvedev for the second consecutive year.
