Mayar Sherif continues to make history for herself and her country as the highest highest ranked Egyptian player of the Open Era. Sherif became the first Egyptian female player to win a Grand Slam main draw match when she did so at the 2021 Australian Open, and also owns one career WTA title claimed in 2022. Sherif reached a career-high ranking of No. 31 in June 2023 and became the first Egyptian player to reach the quarterfinals at a Masters 1000 event when she did so at the 2023 Madrid Open. Sherif was an All-American at Pepperdine University in 2017 and 2018.
