Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic is a former Top 5 ranked player and Olympic Gold Medalist in women’s singles from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Bencic’s best finish at Indian Wells came in 2019 when she reached the semifinals. 2019 was her best year on Tour, as Bencic logged her best Grand Slam finish as a US Open semifinalist, won a WTA 1000 title in Dubai, and reached the semifinals in her lone WTA Finals appearance. After returning from maternity leave in October 2024, Bencic returned to her title-winning ways at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Open, reached the BNP Paribas Open quarterfinal, and achieved her second career Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon.
