Sunday’s men’s singles final between Holger Rune and Jack Draper was the first Masters 1000 final played between players born after 2000.

The women’s final has been contested over three sets eight times since 2001, and 12 times overall.
Years since a British man has defeated multiple Top 5 players at the same event. Draper defeated No.4-ranked Fritz and No.2-ranked Alcaraz to become the first man from his country to achieve the feat since Andy Murray at the 2016 ATP Finals.
Women who have won two singles titles at the BNP Paribas. Two-time champion Iga Swiatek failed in her bid to become the first three-time women’s singles champion in tournament history when she lost in the semis to Mirra Andreeva.
Draper’s title makes him the 11th lefty to win a BNP Paribas Open men’s singles title. He took out Joao Fonseca, Jenson Brooksby, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune along the way.

In the last 15 years, there have only been five Masters 1000 finals that featured two players 23 and under in age. 23-year-old Draper vs 21-year-old Rune was the first at Indian Wells since 2009.
Victoria Azarenka made her 16th main draw appearance, which ties the two-time champion with former champion Jelena Jankovic for most all-time appearances in the women’s singles draw.

2025 BNP Paribas Open women’s singles champion Andreeva will turn 18 on April 29.
Andreeva now leads the WTA in match wins in 2025 with 19 (19-3 overall).
It has been 20 years since a WTA player younger than 18 defeated the World No. 1 in a WTA final. Andreeva is the first player to do it since Maria Sharapova defeated Lindsay Davenport in Tokyo 2005
21-year-old Rune became the first Danish men's finalist in BNP Paribas Open history.
Rune will turn 22 on April 29, the same day that Andreeva turns 18.
Years since a German man was the top seed at the event. Alexander Zverev, who lost in the second-round to Tallon Griekspoor, was the first man from his country to be seeded No. 1 since BNP Paribas Open Tournament Director Tommy Haas in 2002.
