The second annual FILA International Junior Championships began today at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden featuring top junior players from around the world. The ITF Level 1 tournament runs from March 11-17 alongside main draw play of the 2024 BNP Paribas Open.
Headlining the player fields for the junior event are No. 1 seeds Kaylan Bigun and Teodora Kostovic respectively for the boys’ and girls’ singles competition. The 17-year-old Bigun enters the FILA International Junior Championships fresh off a run to the quarterfinal at the 2024 Australian Open Boys’ singles tournament, while the Serbian native Kostovic is a four-time ITF World Tour champion.
Other notable players include No. 2 boys’ seed Cooper Woestendick, the winner of the inaugural FILA International Junior Championships last year, who earned a wild card into the qualifying draw of this year’s BNP Paribas Open. Jagger Leach, the son of six-time Grand Slam champion and two-time Indian Wells champion Lindsay Davenport, will also be in action.
2021 Easter Bowl and Junior Orange Bowl champion Iva Jovic and No. 9 seed Christasha Mcneil, a member of BNP Paribas’s Mac 1 Team who received a wild card into the 2024 BNP Paribas Open qualifying event, are also in the field on the girls’ side.
In collaboration with tournament partner FILA, the junior event will spotlight the next generation of tennis stars and give promising young talent the chance to play on the same courts as the professionals in Indian Wells. The support of this amateur event in Indian Wells comes as part of FILA’s ongoing commitment to empowering the future of tennis.
Fans attending the 2024 BNP Paribas Open can see these young stars in action and experience the junior championships with a daily tournament grounds pass. The event features a 48-person singles draw and 24-team doubles draw, with matches held on Practice Courts 15-20 of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
The championship matches for each draw will be held in Stadium 2 beginning at 10:00am on Sunday, March 17, with the girls’ and boys’ singles champions receiving wild cards into their respective qualifying draws for the 2025 BNP Paribas Open.
