Jagger Leach, Julieta Pareja Win FILA International Junior Championships At Indian Wells
March 16, 2025

The son of one of the most decorated women’s singles players in BNP Paribas Open history is carving out his own legacy in the California desert.

Jagger Leach, the son of three-time Grand Slam champion Lindsay Davenport and Jon Leach, claimed the Boys’ singles and doubles titles at the third annual FILA International Junior Championships.

Leach, a hard-hitting right-hander with a wicked flat backhand, defeated fellow American Jack Kennedy, 7-5, 6-2.

Top-seeded Leach came through a tense tussle with No.2-seeded Kennedy out on Stadium 3, breaking open a tight first set by taking the final two games.

The 16-year-old Kennedy, a quarterfinalist in the Australian Open Boys’ tournament in January, made it tough for Leach with his intensity and fine-tuned counterpunching skills, but ultimately the 17-year-old Southern Californian found his way to the title.

Leach, currently No. 5 in the ITF junior rankings, will turn 18 in June.

On the Girls’ side it was 16-year-old Julieta Pareja who stormed to the title. The No. 5 seed took out American qualifier Alexis Nguyen, 6-1, 6-2.

Last year, Pareja became the youngest player, male or female, to win a SoCal Pro Series title when she raised the hardware in Rancho Santa Fe as a 15-year-old. This earned Pareja a wild card to compete in the 2025 BNP Paribas Open qualifying tournament.

Americans Leena Friedman and Thea Frodin took the Girls’ doubles title 6-1, 7-6(9) over compatriots Maria Aytoyan and Sabrina Lin.

In the Boys’ doubles, Leach and Noah Johnston topped fellow Americans Andrew Johnson and Nischal Spurling, 6-3, 6-2.
