The woman, the myth, the legend. Venus Williams is back in Tennis Paradise for her 10th appearance in the California desert, and the 45-year-old American has learned her first-round opponent after qualifiers were placed into the draw on Tuesday night.

Williams, a three-time semifinalist at Indian Wells, owns the largest gap (30 years, from 1996 to 2026) between a first and most recent appearance at the event since its inception in 1989.

First Round Opponent: Diane Parry

She will become the oldest woman ever to contest a singles match at the tournament and is set to face Frenchwoman Diane Parry in the opening round.

Williams, ranked No. 554, has never faced the World No. 111 Parisian. The winner will advance to meet No. 15 seed Madison Keys in the second round.
