2025 French Open champions Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini had their backs against the wall on Wednesday evening in Stadium 1, but the Italian duo managed to storm back and defeat Kristina Mladenovic and Hanyu Guo, 4-6, 7-5, 10-6 to keep their title hopes alive.
The Olympic gold medalists won the final four points from 6-6 in the match tiebreak, thanks to a barrage of winners from Paolini.
"In the super tiebreak anything could happen," Errani said. "But Jasmine was so good."
Errani and Paolini will take on third-seeded Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend in the final four.
18-year-old Mirra Andreeva and 19-year-old Victoria Mboko couldn't find a way past fifth-seeded Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic in Stadium 3. The pair of Top 10 talents, who started their run with an upset of fourth-seeded Elise Mertens and Zhang Shuai, were ousted, 7-6(5), 6-2.
Danilina and Krunic will face Cristina Bucsa and Nicole Melichar-Martinez in the semifinals.
Women's semifinals are set for Stadium 3 on Thursday.
Arthur Rinderknech and his cousin Valentin Vacherot had never won a tour-level doubles match together — until last week.
Now the dynamic French-Monegasque duo has three wins and a Masters 1000 semifinal to add to their family scrapbook. The pair topped Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev, 6-3, 6-4, in Stadium 2 on Wednesday, setting up a semifinal with Yuki Bhambri of India and Andre Goransson of Sweden, who defeated Andrea Vavassori and Alexander Erler, 6-3, 7-6(2).
Top-half men's doubles quarterfinals will take place on Thursday in Tennis Paradise.
