Cobolli, Bencic Power Into Mixed Doubles Final
3 Min Read · March 13, 2026

Flavio Cobolli and Belinda Bencic are playing for keeps in the $1 million Mixed Doubles Invitational tournament in Tennis Paradise. Out on Stadium 3 on a beautiful, balmy afternoon, the Italian-Swiss duo took it to defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori with an impressive display of power tennis and doubles acumen.

The result? A 6-3, 6-3 triumph for the pair of Top 15 singles players, setting up a final with Gabriela Dabrowski and Lloyd Glasspool.

“It’s really fun to play with Flavio and I’m very glad that we agreed to play here,” Bencic said. “We played for the first time in an exhibition, and it was very good, so we decided to play in an official tournament as well. I think we are playing great and hopefully we can go all the way.”

Gelling as a team, Cobolli and Bencic were on the attack all day. A sign of their intensity? Bencic even jabbed a volley into Vavassori’s abdomen at the net for 4-2 in the second set.

Cobolli, ranked No. 15 on the ATP Tour, looked electric from the service line, rifling through service games and hammering aces.

“She’s a champion,” Cobolli said of former Olympic gold medalist Bencic. “When you have the chance to play with a champion it’s always nice. I learn a lot from her every day, and she’s super nice off the court as well. I think we have a good relationship and now we are happy to be on court together.”

The Italians had a chance to level the second set, but Vavassori missed a smash into the net after an incredible defensive lob by Bencic on deciding point at 4-3, 40-all.

Top seeds Dabrowski of Canada and Glasspool of Great Britain took out Greek stars Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas in a match tiebreak on Friday to reach the final, 6-2, 4-6, 13-11.

Dabrowski, a two-time mixed doubles Grand Slam champion, and Glasspool, who won the Wimbledon men’s doubles title last year, have lost just a single set in three matches, while Cobolli and Bencic have won all six sets they have played.
