Draper Seeks Grand Slam Glory On Home Soil

2025 BNP Paribas Open Champion Jack Draper has achieved some of his biggest career breakthroughs in the first half of 2025. This includes his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells, followed by another Masters final appearance at Madrid. This run of play ignited his ascent up the world rankings to a career high No. 4 heading into Wimbledon.

While all eyes will be on another collision course between two-time BNP Paribas Open champion Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the final, Draper poses a threat to the order as he contends for a Major title of his own. He has shown that he has the stamina to make a deep run, reaching the semifinal at the US Open in 2024, and the fast-paced grass court play will give him an advantage over many opponents. The home crowd will be on the London native’s side, as they try to lift their homegrown talent to the top of Wimbledon for the first time since Andy Murray won in 2016.

Women’s Field Is Wide Open

In the last 10 Grand Slams dating back to the beginning of 2023, only two have been won by a woman not named Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, or Coco Gauff. Both of those titles were won at Wimbledon, by Marketa Vondrousova in 2023 and Barbora Krejcikova in 2024.

While Sabalenka, Gauff, and Swiatek are three of the top favorites to win this edition, there are many other players in the field who have a legitimate chance of claiming it for themselves. This includes 2023 Indian Wells champion Elena Rybakina. The World No. 11 has been consistent on grass, winning her only career Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2022 and reaching the semifinal last year before getting bounced by Krejcikova.

Vondrousova’s grass court prowess cannot be ignored, as she enters Wimbledon off the back of a title at Berlin where she beat Sabalenka in the semifinal. 2025 BNP Paribas Open champion Mirra Andreeva could be another player to watch if she could see the same jumps on grass that she has seen elsewhere in her groundbreaking 2025 campaign.

Andreeva's career-best Wimbledon performance came in 2023 when she reached the fourth round in her tournament debut.
Djokovic Continues To Chase History

At 38 years old and the last active member of the legendary “Big Three”, five-time Indian Wells champion Novak Djokovic has welcomed a new generation of tennis stardom that will be the next to dominate the game. This was put on display in the Roland Garros semifinals, when one of Djokovic’s strongest runs of 2025 was halted by a dominant showing by Sinner in a straight-sets victory.

Djokovic is not done contending for titles just yet, however, with major accolades sitting just beyond his grasp. After notching his hundredth career title at the 2025 Geneva Open, claiming No. 101 at Wimbledon would put the Serb’s name in the history books again. With an eighth career Wimbledon title, Djokovic would match Roger Federer’s record for most men’s singles titles at the historic tournament. In addition, this would mark his 25th Grand Slam title, extending his record in men’s tennis and matching Margaret Court’s tally for the most by any player in tennis history.
