Taylor Fritz-Tommy Paul Headline Superstar Doubles Pairings In The Quarterfinals

One of the highlights of Olympic tennis every four years is seeing top players come together for unique doubles pairings, and fans were treated to a special one this summer as Spaniards Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have teamed up to go for gold in Paris.

But the Spanish team's journey fell short, and now eyes will turn to the American team of Taylor Fritz/Tommy Paul looking to continue their dream run in Paris. Fritz and Paul grew up competing against each other, and they'll have their hands full competing against the British duo of Dan Evans/Andy Murray for a spot in the Olympic Semifinals.

Andy Murray Officially Says Farewell With Legendary Run

Speaking of Andy Murray, the British legend has officially announced that this summer’s competition in Paris will be the end of his illustrious career -- and he is making every last minute and point of his career count.

Partnering with fellow Brit Dan Evans, the two have saved countless match points to earn their spot in the quarterfinals. No matter what happens at this Summer’s Games, Murray is walking away for his career with two Gold Medals, three Grand Slam titles, 14 Masters 1000 titles, and 41 weeks spent ranked as the No. 1 player in the world. His on-court legacy doesn’t even begin to scratch the impact that he has had off the court, and the sport is losing one of its true all-time icons when the Scotsman officially hangs up the racquet.

Singles Stars Set To Clash In Weekend Medal Matches

With the Olympic tennis competition taking place on the famed clay courts of Roland-Garros, results in the singles have been quite similar to the actions fans were treated to back in June during the second Grand Slam of the season.

Reigning Roland-Garros (and Indian Wells) champions Iga Swiatek and Carlos Alcaraz remain the player to beat in their respective draws, but formidable opponents like Qinwen Zheng and of course Novak Djokovic stand in the way between the current queen and king of the clay and an Olympic Gold Medal. A Gold Medal is just about the only thing left missing on Djokovic's legendary career resume, and he will have his eyes set on capturing the feat as he remains on a collison course with Alcaraz for the final
