The 2024 BNP Paribas Open was all about these two young stars, Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek, who both earned the honor of becoming multi-time Tennis Paradise champions.
This one was an instant classic.
In a battle between World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka and former NCAA Singles Champion Peyton Stearns, Sabalenka prevailed in a more than three-hour match. Sabalenka battled to the brink, saving four match points on Stearns’ serve in an absolute rollercoaster contest.
“This match definitely goes into the book of craziest matches and the best matches of my career,” Sabalenka said after the match.
Here’s to more craziness and more awesome tennis in 2025.
Sometime the best drama in Tennis Paradise takes place after dark.
With a spot in the Round of 16 on the line, rising American star Ben Shelton and Francisco Cerundolo battled late into the night. Shelton ultimately prevailed in a dramatic three-set tiebreaker, fighting through a raucous crowd and valiant comeback effort from Cerundolo.
Shelton would ultimately fall to Jannik Sinner in the next round, but not without thrilling the BNP Paribas Open crowds and cementing himself as a fan-favorite player that folks in Indian Wells will be eager to see return in 2025.
This may as well have been the biggest upset of the entire 2024 season.
Novak Djokovic’s first trip to Indian Wells since 2019 was spoiled by none other than Luca Nardi, a 20-year-old Italian who was ranked only No. 123 at a time. Nardi had only been added back to the main draw as a lucky loser, and made the most of his luck as he became the lowest-ranked player in history to defeat Djokovic at a Masters 1000 or Grand Slam.
Safe to say that the 5x Indian Wells champion might be playing with a bit of chip on his shoulder to avenge some bad memories at the 2025 BNP Paribas Open.
The Carlos Alcaraz-Jannik Sinner rivalry is the gift that keeps on giving, and Indian Wells fans were spoiled as the two superstars met on Semifinal Saturday in the desert for the second year in a row.
Here’s to hoping 2025 has more than jaw-dropping tennis like this in store.
The 2024 BNP Paribas Open welcomed back two WTA stalwarts as Angelique Kerber and Caroline Wozniacki returned to the desert to compete.
And the pair of former Grand Slam champions weren’t just there to have fun. Each stormed their way through the early part of the draws to reach the Round of 16 and set up a blast from the past clash.
It was a treat to have them back in Tennis Paradise this year.
Yes, this really did happen, and thankfully, no players or bees were seriously harmed.
Here's to hoping the Indian Wells Tennis Garden is similarly abuzz for the 2025 BNP Paribas Open, but maybe not so literally this time.
Be here to experience the magic of Tennis Paradise when the best players in the world return to Indian Wells from March 2-16 for the 2025 BNP Paribas Open!
